Just So You Know

As the new year begins I think it is just a natural instinct to promise ourselves that we will do better in one way or another in the coming year. However, sometimes life just gets in the way and our heartfelt resolutions are soon broken, forgotten, or ignored.

I’ve decided that this year the promises I make to myself will be more realistic and therefore, more achievable. I’m not going to promise myself that I will lose a certain amount weight because if I don’t, I’ll be disappointed in myself. That disappointment can bring a whole host of other problems. Instead, I will promise to eat better, not perfect, just better.

I am not going to promise myself that I will finish the novel I am writing in the next six months because I know that as soon as I make such a promise/resolution, life will consume my time and energy.

I will resolve be a better manager of my time so that I can spend more time writing. I spend so much time writing and trying to sell my books that I don’t have much time for my first love, reading. I will promise to work reading into my time management. I really miss being able to curl up with a good book for a couple of hours.
