The Vance Legacy

The Vance Legacy is by far one of the best books I have ever read. A page-turner for sure. I read the book for the first time in 8 hours. When Lillian enters the story, the absolutely compelling part of the drama begins to unfold. Interesting characters from beginning to end. Storytelling at its best and a climactic ending that will have you wanting the sequel. I highly recommend reading this heartbreaking yet powerful story.”—LaReine Nixon

The Vance Legacy is really a sad love story. Big Bill’s love for his wife, leads him to do terrible things that will affect his family long into the future. David’s love for Lillian and Beth’s love for David, binds the three of them in destructive triangle and they all do things that they regret. If that isn’t enough drama, the backdrop of these love stories is the atrocities of slavery and life on a tobacco plantation.  I could not put the book down and I finished it in a couple of days. The Vance Legacy is a great book and I recommend this powerful retelling of history.  ---Jameel Scott

Dark Legacy

Dark Legacy is the second installment of the Legacy trilogy and it delivers all of the excitement, historical accuracy and unexpected twists of its predecessor, The Vance Legacy.
 

Dark Legacy takes us to Philadelphia where Lillian, Rebecca and Beth are laying down roots. After leaving the plantation, Lillian and Rebecca are trying to fit into their new lives of freedom. The ladies emotions and strengths are put to the test. They are all trying to balance their new lives while battling the demons of old. The story focuses on Rebecca’s struggle with being a Negro, though with her white skin and blazing green eyes, she could easily pass for white.

 

The new characters are as unique and troubled as our leading ladies are and Wallingford House is a character all its own. Though Mrs. Wallingford is presented as a saint, you soon find out how deep rooted her cruelty really lives.

The men of Dark Legacy shine with good values but have their demons also. The twists and turns in their lives builds excitement and leaves you wanting more. James learns through Big Bill’s journals of another half-brother, Louis. He also learns the true reason for David’s suicide, all while hiding his love for Beth.

Dark Legacy will have you turning page after page in anticipation of what happens next! F. Haywood Glenn’s attention to detail and gripping writing style, keeps this book glued to your hands. You will not be disappointed!!

The Bowman Legacy

F. Haywood Glenn, finished the final book in her trilogy and she did not disappoint. The odyssey that the characters experience will have you wanting to read more. I couldn't put the book down until I learned what happened next. The final chapter in this family saga has everything that a reader could ask for: love, hope, new beginnings, villains, history, and a rich family story that gives you a glimpse of redemption and empathy for a family that feels so real and true. I highly of my recommend this book.
